The Orleans Hotel and Casino Opens December 18, 1996

16 December 1996

LAS VEGAS-- The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas will have its grand opening on December 18, 1996 with a sensational fireworks show which begins at 7:00 p.m.

The Orleans is located on an 80-acre site on Tropicana Avenue, just west of the Strip and I-15. The site is easily accessible from Arville Road and Cameron Streets, in addition to multiple Tropicana Avenue entrances.

The spectacular 22-story, 840-room resort will showcase all the flair and flavor of New Orleans while offering Las Vegas-style amenities, including a 92,000 square-foot full-service casino, a 40,000 square foot convention center, six fabulous restaurants, an 827-seat theater featuring the exciting "Gone Country" extravaganza starring Rex Allen, Jr., a 70-lane bowling center and, what else, a full-service wedding chapel.

The Orleans is the newest project of Coast Resorts, Inc., developers of two existing Las Vegas hotel/casinos, the Gold Coast just west of the Strip on Flamingo Road, and the Barbary Coast on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Orleans' striking architecture combines a French Quarter facade incorporating French, Spanish and Plantation Colonial influences, with the sparkle and imagination one expects to find in Las Vegas. Visitors will enter through a 40-foot high atrium highlighted by the sights and sounds of the famed Crescent City.

The Company is also finalizing plans for a fourth property, the Sundance, which is scheduled to break ground in the second quarter of 1997.
