28 November 2022

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Beau Rivage Resort & Casino is proud to partner with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Ballet Theatre for its annual presentation of The Nutcracker Ballet. The timeless classic will grace the Beau Rivage Theatre stage Saturday, 10 December at 7 p.m. and Sunday, 11 December at 3 p.m.

“We strive to bring the best in classical performances to South Mississippi and to instill the love of the arts and create future fans of ballet,” said Mississippi Gulf Coast Ballet Theatre Director Elaine Kulick. “We have 150 students from around the Coast who have been working hard for many months now and are so excited to perform on the Beau Rivage stage.”

Choreographer Svetlana Popova of the Moscow Ballet will bring this holiday fairytale to life with stunning sets, vibrant costumes, dramatic lighting and world-renowned dancers Joseph Gatti and Reka Gyulia. Joseph Gatti is a former soloist with ABT and has won the gold medal of the New York International Ballet Competition and Reka Gyulia has been a finalist at the Vienna International Ballet Competition.

Drosselmyer will be played by Daniel Therrien. The Biloxi-native performed at casinos around the Coast before moving to Las Vegas. Therrien is a self-taught dancer and tumbler who has performed around the world. Currently, he works an associate choreographer for a German classic film-turned-musical, “Der Schuh des Manitu” in Germany. Watch the skies during the show as the stunt expert plans to fly onto stage. Andre Figueroa will play Snow Pas and lead Spanish. Camila De Faria will play Clara.

Accompanying the Mississippi Gulf Coast Ballet Theatre is the Gulf Coast School of Performing Arts and Ballet Pensacola. Ballet Pensacola will bring 25 international performers under the direction of Darren McIntyre. Audiences will have the pleasure of watching these award-winning artists perform a beautiful ballet while listening to the musical score of Peter Tchaikovsky.
