The Koreans whet the appetites of online casino groups14 January 2002The Koreans like to gamble. The Korea Herald published some pretty startling statistics on the size of the overall gambling market in that country. The numbers will surely whet the appetites of online casino groups with international expansion in mind because cornering even a small percentage of this market represents substantial business. The Korean gambling industry grew an incredible 45 percent last year, creating a market worth US$7 billion or 57.6 percent of the entire national leisure industry according to a report by Korea Leisure Industry Consulting. The gambling industry is expected to rise to a value of US$8.8 billion in year 2002 due to the partial implementation of a five-day workweek and the creation of new forms of gambling. |
