The 10th year of The Full House Charity Program20 December 2020(PRESS RELEASE) -- Professional poker player Bernard Lee joined forces with FamilyAid Boston for the fifth consecutive year in a row to provide holiday gifts for 35 local families experiencing homelessness. Each family received customized gifts for both adults and 55 participating children. RunGoodGear.com served as the primary sponsor of the program. Lee is one of New England’s top professional poker players and an active poker media personality. For ten consecutive holiday seasons, Lee has supported children in need by donating all proceeds of The Full House Charity Program to child-focused charitable organizations across New England. “It has been a true privilege to give back during the past decade as the program has become a family tradition. Even though the world is suffering through this unprecedented pandemic this year, there was never a doubt that we would continue to help these families during the holiday season. I was so pleased that FamilyAid Boston worked closely with me to help make the necessary adjustments and make the 10th anniversary of The Full House Charity Program a success.” In past holiday seasons, the Full House Charity Program distributed its customized gift bags at a holiday party. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lee delivered the gifts directly to Family Aid, which distributed them safely to the family’s residences, while practicing social distancing with safety measures. “We were thrilled when we got the call from Bernard that he would be providing gifts again. Honestly, we were not expecting anything this year with all the difficulties of COVID-19,” detailed Rachel Canar, Director of Development, FamilyAid Boston. The need has never been greater, and the parents have never been more appreciative. Our families need help now even with the basics like food and diapers. These gifts are helping relieve stress and bring smiles. We have received many messages of thanks, like this one: “I just wanted to say thank you for bringing some holiday help and joy to help me make my child happy for the holidays. Many blessings to you all. Very much appreciated. Happy holidays !!!!” Lee and his children, who have actively participated every year since the event’s inception, spent hours personally packing each customized gift package from the families’ personalized wish lists. Lee fulfilled specific requests from each child and family. Gifts included winter clothing, books, toys, games, sports balls, and art supplies. Of course, each child received his or her own stuffed animal. In addition, Lee provided every mother a winter coat. Throughout the past 10 years, several companies have helped make The Full House Charity Program a success and this year was no exception. RunGoodGear (RGG) served as the primary sponsor of the program. “RunGoodGear has been part of the program for the last seven years and I want to thank the president, Tana Karn, and all of my RunGoodGear ambassador teammates for their generosity. The team’s kindness provided numerous gifts to make the 2020 holidays special for these families.” “I’m proud of the RunGood Family ambassadors for stepping up during these difficult times,” stated Tana Karn, President and Founder of RunGoodGear.com. “Over the years, they have always answered the call to help Bernard and The Full House Charity Program. It’s been a challenging year for everyone. Giving families a Happy Holidays means so much more because of it.” Lee launched his Full House Charity Program in February of 2011, and has since provided more than $100,000 worth of goods and funds to children-focused organizations in New England. The program has helped about 400 families and 600 children during its decade history. |
