Thailand Won't Legalize Casinos

THAILAND – As reported by the Bangkok Post: "Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said yesterday the government was not ready to think about legalising casinos in Thailand since it had many other problems that needed tackling more urgently.

"…He said casinos had pros and cons. If Thailand were to legalise casinos, the government would first need to hold a referendum to sound out people's opinions.

"The idea of allowing casinos in Thailand has been broached from time to time but so far all have had to beat a hasty retreat because of strong public objections."
