Thailand Casino Hearings Ordered25 November 2003THAILAND – As reported by the Bangkok Post: "Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has ordered his deputies Visanu Krue-ngarm and Pokin Polakul to arrange public hearings and a study into the feasibility of setting up an `entertainment complex' which includes a casino. "…`The public hearings will end the ongoing argument whether we should have a casino operating legally in the country,' Mr Thaksin said. "…Mr Thaksin said half of the revenue from the casino would go to local administrations for development and the other half would be used to help the poor, Aids-infected people and the elderly…" |
