Thai Police Bust Illegal Casino

THAILAND – As reported by the BBC: "Thai police have raided a vast illegal casino in the centre of Bangkok, using helicopters to sweep down on the complex and detaining over 300 people.

"The overnight raid, the second attempt to break the casino, occurred in the capital's Taopoon district.

"…Maj Gen Vinai Thongsong, head of crime suppression, said that police would have had to battle through several layers on the ground if helicopters had not been used.

"…Tables for roulette and baccarat, as well as slot machines, were seized in the operation.

"Gen Vinai said that all 353 people detained during the raid would be prosecuted on gambling charges and would face prison terms and fines if convicted…"
