Texas tribe lobbies gambling expansion

TEXAS – As reported by the My San Antonio: "Leaders of the Tigua Indian tribe and other Texas tribes showed up at the Capitol on Tuesday to voice support for proposed constitutional amendments that would allow gambling to resume on Indian reservations.

"The proposals are part of an array of Indian gambling legislation filed by Rep. Norma Chavez, D-El Paso. She said when the Tiguas were allowed to run their casino, they were able to invest in other businesses, provide scholarships and build homes, a tribal library and other facilities…"
