Texas tribe continues push for casino

TEXAS – As reported by the El Paso Times: "Tigua governor Art Senclair said the tribe will continue to press the state for gambling rights this year, and with support of the area's municipalities.

"Senclair said his hope is to negotiate a revenue-sharing agreement with the state by which the Tiguas could reopen a casino. He said the city and county of El Paso have passed resolutions in support of the idea and that Socorro has recently joined them.

"…Trillo said her primary reason for introducing the resolution was to bring back the casino's employment opportunities. Senclair said Speaking Rock, which now has about 50 hourly-wage employees on its books, once employed as many as 1,000 people…"
