Texas Station Expansion May Fortify Locals Market Strength15 December 2000LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Dec. 15, 2000 –As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “Company officials believe Texas Station's recently completed $65 million expansion project will solidify Station Casinos' position as the dominant locals gambling operator in northwest Las Vegas. ”A new 40,000 square-foot conference center, a bowling alley, a wedding chapel and two new restaurants will give the gaming property Station Casinos' widest array of entertainment options, and solidify Texas Station's position as the anchor casino on the Rancho Drive corridor it dominates, executives say. ”… [Kevin Kelley, Station Casinos president of west Las Vegas operations] believes the Texas Station expansion is a critical element in Station Casinos' battle with its local market competitors. ”…Kelley doesn't think an expanded Texas Station will cannibalize Palace Station, Santa Fe Station or Fiesta customers. ”The new conference center will allow Station Casinos to place people in the company's nearby hotel rooms, he said. While Texas Station and Santa Fe Station have 200 rooms, and the Fiesta has 100, Palace Station has 1,000 rooms. ”…The idea behind the Texas Station expansion was twofold, Kelley said, upgrading the property in response to the recently opened Suncoast and Regent Las Vegas casinos, and adding to its amenities to attract a broader customer base. ”…The company hopes gamblers will travel from outside Texas Station's traditional marketing area to eat at Austin's, and hopes local and regional businesses will use the conference center for corporate events…” |
