Texas Official Slams Gambling Funding Idea

TEXAS – As reported by the Funding education through slot machines and casinos is morally and fiscally irresponsible, a Republican National Committee member said Tues day.

"Tim Lambert, who lives in Lubbock and represents Texas in the RNC, said he has traveled throughout the state and found Texas families are widely opposed to generating revenue for schools through gambling.

"The use of slot machines is one of many possibilities being discussed by Texas legislators as a possible solution to funding public education.

"…Lambert said he opposes any plan that includes gambling.

"…The lottery has failed as a funding source for public schools, and Lambert said he believes slot machines will not provide reliable revenue…"
