Texas Cops Shut Down Casinos

TEXAS – As reported by the Brownsville Herald: "Police are following through with their promise to shut down any video gambling casinos that break the state's gambling laws.

"The 24-hour Valley Vegas casino on West Boca Chica Boulevard and the Hell o' Cash casino on Old Port Isabel Road were closed down Thursday night for breaking the state's gambling code.

"…Each casino had more than 40 video gaming machines, which police were taking inventory on Thursday night.

"Police shut down other video casinos is recent months in connection with cash payouts. Although there is no solid proof whether Valley Vegas or Hell o' Cash were making cash payouts, the department does have proof that illegal gambling occurred in other ways, said special investigations director Lt. Juan Hernandez.

"State gambling law forbids any payout that is worth more than 10 times the amount of a bet, and also forbids cash payouts and prizes worth more than $5…"
