18 November 2003

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – As reported by the Knoxville News-Sentinel: "More than 1,600 grocery stores, convenience stores and other retailers have applied with the Tennessee Education Lottery Corp. to sell lottery tickets, officials said Monday.

"The lottery has started the approval process, which includes criminal and credit checks, and it hopes to start announcing retailers next month, said lottery spokeswoman Kym Gerlock.

"…Officials expect between 3,000 and 4,000 retailers to sign up before the first ticket is sold. Retailers will receive a commission of at least 6.5 percent of the lottery's gross sales in their stores. .."
