Tax Changes, Internet Boost Betting Figures5 October 2004UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by Ananova: "The abolition of tax on betting and the internet boom has boosted the amount of money gambled in the UK. "It is up from £7.6bn (US$13.56 billion) to almost £40bn(US$49.27 billion) in just three years. "Global Betting and Gaming Consultants' research attributed the explosion to the rise in online gambling and Chancellor Gordon Brown's decision to ditch tax on individual wagers.
