Tasmania Gaming Areas Will Feel Pinch5 January 2005TASMANIA, Australia -- As reported by News Interactive: "Tighter smoking bans which became effective from yesterday will have the biggest financial impact on gaming venues. "The widened bans include prohibitions on smoking in nightclubs, casino gaming areas, and hotel gaming rooms. "Tabcorp reports show the introduction of a ban on smoking in gaming areas in Victoria in September 2002 had a substantial financial impact, which continues. "Nine Eleven group managing director Jim Bleasel said gaming dropped 20 to 30 per cent in Victoria immediately at some venues. "...Mr Bleasel said Tasmanian hotels with gaming machines received the lowest take of all state's in Australia...
