5 January 2005

TASMANIA, Australia -- As reported by News Interactive: "Tighter smoking bans which became effective from yesterday will have the biggest financial impact on gaming venues.

"The widened bans include prohibitions on smoking in nightclubs, casino gaming areas, and hotel gaming rooms.

"...Mr Bleasel said Tasmanian hotels with gaming machines received the lowest take of all state's in Australia...

"...Many Tasmanian hotels were looking to construct courtyards, terraces and beer gardens..."
