Tama County Casino Question on Ballot

TAMA, Iowa – As reported by the Waterloo Courier: "A measure asking voters to approve another casino in Tama County made its way on November's ballot.

"City officials collected more than 1,000 signatures asking for an 'excursion boat' gambling facility in the county, Mayor Chris Bearden said. Only 902 signatures were needed for the measure to get on the ballot.

"…Bearden said the next step is to begin a public education campaign to drum up support for any gambling facilities.

"…If the gambling measure is approved, a nonprofit gaming board can form, which will oversee a casino…"
