Taj Mahal Pays Fine

ATLANTIC CITY, News Brief: "In catering to a gambler's every whim, Trump Taj Mahal in 1999 heeded a female gambler's request that she be assigned a male limousine driver.

"…More than four years and a litany of legal arguments later, Taj Mahal paid $60,000 to settle Division of Gaming Enforcement civil charges that it violated state equal-employment opportunity rules.

"The Casino Control Commission on Wednesday accepted the settlement, which also showed that Taj Mahal on 18 other days from 1998-2000 requested male drivers for the unidentified female gambler and six other players.

"In arguing to dismiss the charges, Taj lawyer Lloyd Levenson said that merely communicating a driver's request is not discrimination…"
