Tainted Abramoff Contributions Donated

WASHINGTON, DC – As reported by the Beaufort Gazette: "In response to the firestorm surrounding casino lobbyist Jack Abramoff, Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., is sending money contributed to his campaign to a gambling addiction hotline.

"Abramoff has been at the center of an investigation into a variety of corruption charges, including defrauding Indian tribal casino clients.

"DeMint, who denies any wrongdoing or connection to the lobbyist, received $2,750 from three of Abramoff's associates at a law firm where Abramoff worked until 2004.

"DeMint joins a slew of Republicans and several Democrats who are donating campaign contributions from Abramoff to charities. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., received contributions from tribes represented by Abramoff…"
