Tacoma Casino Ban Petition Faces November Vote

TACOMA, Washington – As reported by the Tacoma News Tribune: "The Tacoma City Council is not required by law to call a March special election to decide the fate of the city's minicasinos, a state Appeals Court commissioner ruled Thursday.

"As a result, it now appears likely that an initiative petition seeking to overturn the city's scheduled casino ban will go before voters in November.

"For now, the casinos remain open at least until the Court of Appeals rules on the case.

"The decision was considered a victory for the city, which objected to an earlier ruling by a Pierce County Superior Court judge ordering a special election in March…"
