Super Casino shares thoughts on potential revenue for Californian online poker market

13 January 2014

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The online casino experts at Super Casino have shared their thoughts on the release of figures into the potential revenue of the Californian online poker market.

It has been reported by iGamingBusiness that a new study reveals that the legalization of online poker in California could generate revenue of up to $263 million in the first year. The study, which was conducted by market research organization PokerScout and research consultancy Academicon, also discovered that the industry could produce $384 million in revenue in the 10th year of operations.

Researchers investigated data on 4.6 million online poker players in 2009 and 2010 – when unregulated poker was at its most popular – finding that 178,300 online poker players in California produced, on average, $867 each year in revenue for online poker companies. Furthermore, the researchers indicated that online poker players in California make up 16% of U.S. revenue, while accounting for 4% of worldwide online poker revenue.

The experts at online casino Super Casino, which offers a range of games including online poker, closely follow industry news and were interested in the release of these figures. A spokesperson for the company shared their thoughts:

“The legalization of online gambling in the U.S. has been dominating news in the industry for many months, and the recent release of these figures highlights the potential benefits the legaliszation of online poker in California could bring to the sector. Online gambling has seen an increase in popularity around the world, and these figures serve to highlight just how beneficial this could be for the industry. We look forward to the release of further research into the impact legalization could have on the USA’s online poker industry.”
