This is the first year that betting has been authorized on the Super Bowl since sports wagering was legalized in New Jersey in 2018. Preliminary wagering statistics reported by Atlantic City Casinos and New Jersey Horse Tracks show that $34,894,900 was wagered on this year’s Super Bowl with a total sports book payout of $39,469,147. This resulted in a loss of $4,574,247, which represents a negative hold percentage of 13.11%. These revenue figures include New Jersey’s 10 land based sports wagering lounges and 11 online mobile sports wagering brands. It should be noted that one online mobile sports wagering brand was granted approval to open to the public on January 31st, and was in soft play during the Super Bowl and is included in these statistics.
