SugarHouse Casino's senior counsel receives accolades

25 October 2017

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Evan Davis, senior counsel to SugarHouse Casino, was recognized in the Philadelphia Business Journal's Best of the Bar list for his outstanding role as the casino's in-house legal counsel. Davis was honored at the official awards reception on Tuesday, 24 October at the Ballroom at the Ben.

The Best of the Bar list honors the top lawyers in the Philadelphia region. Honorees were acknowledged for their efforts in a multitude of categories, including business litigation, employment litigation, intellectual property, in-house counsel, corporate, bankruptcy and real estate. Davis was one of four lawyers honored in the in-house counsel category.

Davis joined SugarHouse as senior counsel in 2015 and has been an invaluable asset to the company. As the only attorney on property, Davis works directly with the casino's executive team and department leaders. Working closely with the individual area operators allows for a greater understanding of the company's needs. As an onsite resource, Davis has developed workplace policies and procedures to secure a positive impact on all levels of business operations. Davis' dedication, adaptability and attention to detail have made him an essential member of the SugarHouse team.

"We are proud of the fantastic work that Evan does for SugarHouse," said Wendy Hamilton, general manager of SugarHouse Casino. "Evan goes above and beyond every day to make sure that the casino and our team run smoothly. He's a star!"

A dedicated Team Member, Davis volunteers with SugarHouse's philanthropic efforts, which includes assisting at the Rizzo Police Athletic League center and delivering turkeys before Thanksgiving to those in need. Davis is also involved in the community by serving on the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation board of directors.

Davis earned his Juris Doctor cum laude in 2006 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was a senior editor for the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. Evan earned a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University in 2003.
