SugarHouse Casino named one of Philadelphia's 'Top Workplaces'

19 March 2012

PHILADELPHIA -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- SugarHouse Casino employees have once again voted that their jobs are among the best in Philadelphia. SugarHouse has been named one of the “Top Workplaces” in the annual contest presented by the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News. The program recognizes the area’s top employers based on nominations and feedback from their employees.

“I wish there was a contest where we could vote our employees the ‘Top Team in Philadelphia’ — they would win every day.”

SugarHouse is ranked as a top-20 employer in the “large company” category, defined as Philadelphia businesses with 500 or more employees. Employees at each company were surveyed, and the results were analyzed by a third-party research firm, WorkplaceDynamics, to determine the rankings.

SugarHouse Casino team members completed anonymous surveys that asked employees to be open and honest about their work environment, confidence in their managers and overall job satisfaction.

“I want to thank the SugarHouse team for voting us one of the ‘Top Workplaces’,” said Wendy Hamilton, general manager of SugarHouse Casino. “I wish there was a contest where we could vote our employees the ‘Top Team in Philadelphia’ — they would win every day.”

Last year, SugarHouse employees voted their casino one of the city’s “Best Places to Work” in the Philadelphia Business Journal rankings. Similar to “Top Workplaces,” the “Best Places to Work” program encourages employees to openly rank their place of business in a voluntary, anonymous survey that is evaluated by a third-party research organization.

SugarHouse was recognized in the Philadelphia Inquirer’s special “Top Workplaces 2012” supplement in its March 18 issue. To view the complete 2012 “Top Workplaces” winners.
