'Sugar' Ray Ends His Day in Court at the Casino

AUSTRALIA -- As reported by the Sunday Mail: "Minutes after being cleared of fraud charges in a Brisbane court, 'Sugar' Ray Robinson strode to the casino, checked out the TAB and had another lash at the dollar pokies.

"It seemed an amazing choice of venue for the controversial indigenous leader.

"Just the previous day, the Crown had used Mr Robinson's Treasury Casino rewards card to say he had put $4.3 million through poker machines in three years. The former Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission deputy chairman said the figure was "fabricated".

"...Outside the court earlier, he thanked God for his deliverance and thanked God again for being judged by a jury of his peers.

"...Mr Robinson pleaded not guilty to two counts of fraud with circumstances of aggravation, which alleged he dishonestly applied for his own use two cheques for $2000 and $2800 from the Indigenous Housing and Construction Company..."
