Study says legalized sports betting would boost Israel's tax revenue

10 December 2012

ISRAEL -- A new study suggests Israel would benefit from high tax revenue if it legalized sports betting, Haaretz reported.

Currently much of Israel's sports gambling is conducted illegally meaning 80 percent of the revenue generated is untaxed, the report said.

The study also highlighted that regulating sports betting would be better for gamblers and sports related associations, according to the Haaretz report.
