Study reveals summer temperatures affect U.K. online bingo activity

18 June 2012

LONDON -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Data released by Bingoport.co.uk, the U.K.'s independent authority on online bingo, has revealed a definitive correlation between U.K. temperatures and online bingo player activity.

Bingoport's exclusive Bingo Trends data has revealed a direct correlation between the U.K.'s weather and player activity on the U.K.'s online bingo sites, with rises in temperature corresponding with decreases in player activity and vice versa.

The most indicative piece of data shows that throughout May, the U.K.'s warmest day was recorded on the 27th of May, with 28 degrees recorded at Heathrow and as high as 30 degrees recorded in some locations. The same day was the lowest day of online bingo player activity for the month, with an estimated 289,000 U.K. residents playing bingo online.

In direct contrast, the highest day for online bingo player activity was recorded on the 4th of May, with just over 400,000 players estimated to have played bingo online. The temperature reached a top of just 9.6 degrees, the second-coldest day of the month behind the 3rd of May, which also saw just under 400,000 estimated players.
