Students push for green casino12 June 2007PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- As reported by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "Daniela Valdes kicked off her summer break with a petition drive that gathered 700 signatures calling for Pittsburgh's planned arena and casino to be built as environmentally friendly buildings. "...Bob Oltmanns, a Barden spokesman, would not discuss today whether the casino's design includes plans to make it environmentally friendly. A Penguins spokesman could not immediately comment. "City officials, including Planning Director Noor Ismail, said late last month that they hope the new casino will incorporate a 'green building' design to ensure energy efficiency. Casino design plans, which could detail the building's energy-saving traits, could receive the city Planning Commission's scrutiny late this month.
