Strong Opposition to Buffalo Convention Casino

BUFFALO, New York – As reported by the Buffalo Business First: "The Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau has once again reaffirmed its opposition to placing a downtown casino in the Buffalo Convention Center.

"The CVB's directors took that position on Friday following reports that some elected leaders are pressuring the Seneca Nation of Indians into abandoning plans to put its Erie County casino in Cheektowaga and, instead, bring it to the downtown convention center.

"The Seneca Nation had identified the convention center last winter as a possible site, but strong opposition to that proposal had them look elsewhere in the county.

"…Erie County Executive Joel Giambra, who last winter lobbied against putting the casino in the convention center, remains opposed to the plan…"
