Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower Tops Off Second Tower3 November 2000LAS VEGAS--(Press Release)--Nov. 2, 2000--The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower topped off today with a gala event overlooking the tower. During the gala event, which took place from 3 to 6 p.m., American Superstars performers Darren Lee as Elvis, and Michael Colby as Ricky Martin made a special performance on top of the new room tower-which is scheduled to open during the summer of 2001, announced Stratosphere officials. Michael Colby as Ricky Martin was hoisted up to the top of the topped-off tower via a construction crane in a cage while singing ``La Vida Loca.'' After the cage was set atop the tower Colby joined Darren Lee as Elvis in a duet of ``Viva Las Vegas.'' After the song, a banner was unveiled on the side of the building that read, ``The Stratosphere, Nobody Offers You More.'' The total construction budget for the 24-story tower project is $65 million. When the tower opens it will include 1,002 new, luxuriously-appointed guest rooms and amenities. That room count includes 100 suites, complete with spa tubs, dispersed throughout the floors. Stratosphere will also provide a laundry room for guest convenience. Major amenities of the tower will include: a 67,000 square-foot swimming pool and recreation area will be located on the sixth floor of the tower along with a snack bar and full-service cocktail bar. The pool deck will also have private cabanas and a large hot tub featured prominently in the design. Stratosphere is an integrated casino/hotel/entertainment complex located at the north end of the Las Vegas Strip. |
