Storms hurt Mount Airy's take

PENNSYLVANIA -- As reported by the Pocono Record: "The weekend storm that forced Mount Airy Casino Resort to shutter its slot machines took a bite out of the casino's weekly wages. But despite the misfire, the casino still managed to achieve a respectable return last week.

"A severe thunderstorm Saturday evening knocked out power to Mount Airy Casino for 14 hours, forcing the machines into silence during a peak period of volume. Casino officials said about 800 guests had to be evacuated from the gaming floor during the power outage.

"...Partially as a result, wagers fell almost 6 percent last week to $41.5 million. But that's only slightly below the casino's weekly average of $42.9 million since opening..."
