Steve Callender named GM of Tropicana Casino and Resort in AC

4 September 2012

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Tropicana Atlantic City Casino and Resort has announced the promotion of industry veteran Steve Callender to the position of General Manager. Callender will oversee all business operations at the destination resort.

Since late 2010, Callender has served as senior vice president of casino operations for Tropicana. A graduate of Glassboro State College (now RowanUniversity), he started his extensive Atlantic City gaming career path as a dealer at Resorts, when that first Atlantic City casino debuted in 1978.

Over the next decade, he steadily worked his way up the ranks at Resorts to assume the role of vice president of casino operations, before making the jump to the Atlantic City Hilton as its casino manager. Callender continued to build his resume as the senior vice president of table operations at Bally's Atlantic City, where he played an instrumental role in melding the Claridge Casino into the Bally’s brand. Following that task, Callender came full circle back to Resorts as its senior vice president of operations for four years.

“Steve has been a strong player in the gaming industry for years and will be an invaluable asset as general manager” said Tony Rodio, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tropicana Entertainment Inc. “He has the skills and the vision to successfully guide Tropicana into the next era.”
