Station Casino To Offer In-Room Gambling

7 June 2001

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – June 4, 2001 –As reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal: “A newly formed subsidiary of Station Casinos will offer a computerized, in-room gambling system that it will market to competing casino companies and could pave the way for the company's entry into online gambling.

”The company has formed a separate firm to market the technology through its GameCast Live LLC, which will target cruise ships and tribal casinos.

”…Station Casinos plans to place GameCast remotes in many of its 2,728 Las Vegas-area hotel rooms, and will market the product to competing companies by showing them how it works in the rooms.

”…The system lets customers view and hear real slot machines as they bet on them, using streaming audio and video offered via a wireless remote that's reminiscent of a video game. Future games will allow betting on blackjack and craps.

”Customers would deposit money into personal accounts before using the GameCast system.

”…Company executives hope the technology will become a platform to let gamblers bet on slot machines over the Internet.

”…Once the technology is approved by Nevada gaming regulators, Station Casinos plans to sell licenses to other casino companies to operate GameCast systems throughout the country…”
