State officials replace Sayre

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- The Gaming Control Board's deputy chief of investigations has been promoted to the division's chief, replacing new Gaming Control Board member Randy Sayre.

James Martin, who has been deputy chief of investigations since 1990, was named to the post that oversees a staff of 132 in Las Vegas and Carson City. He replaces Sayre, who was appointed to the three-member Control Board earlier this month by Gov. Jim Gibbons.

Miller, a 24-year Control board employee, will be responsible for overseeing pre-licensing investigations conducted on applicants seeking a Nevada gaming license or a finding of suitability to engage in the operation of licensed gaming in the state.
