State Hires Casino Consulting Firm6 August 2004Las Vegas Sun HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The state awarded a contract to a Pennsylvania-based consulting firm to help develop a way to monitor money pouring in at slot machine parlors across the state and do background checks of applicants seeking lucrative gambling licenses. The $764,000 contract for Information Services Group began July 15, 10 days after Gov. Ed Rendell signed legislation legalizing up to 61,000 slot machines at 14 racetracks, resorts and other sites. Two other companies, Spectrum Gaming Group and Gaming Laboratories International, are included in the contract. State Revenue Secretary Gregory C. Fajt announced the contract at a Wednesday meeting of a working group. The group will recommend policies to a seven-member gambling commission that will eventually license and regulate the state's slot machine parlors. Copyright © Las Vegas Sun. Inc.
