St. Louis Casinos Plan Expansions1 November 2004ST. LOUIS -- As reported by the Associated Press: "Three casinos are slated for $500 million in new construction and expansion along a few miles of the Mississippi River in an effort St. Louis area officials hope will spark additional development. "St. Louis has signed a deal with Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. to build a $250 million casino, hotel and residential development at Laclede's Landing downtown. "Columbia Sussex Corp. said last month it will buy the President Casino on the Admiral, which is tethered at the landing. The business will invest $100 million in its project. "And the Casino Queen, on the Illinois bank of the river in East St. Louis, is planning to invest about $150 million in updates and expansion. "...Developers also plan to create an entertainment area, to be called the Bottle District, north of the Edward Jones Dome, where the National Football League's St. Louis Rams play..." |
