Sri Lanka's new president likely to ditch on Packer's casino plan

SRI LANKA -- Sri Lanka has elected a new president Maithripala Sirisena who had already stated his opposition to James Packer's proposed casino plan, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. Packer's proposal had been gathering pace during 2013 though it had certainly faced opposition on several fronts including tax concessions, the report said. Now with the election of Sirisena Packer's proposed $400 million casino-hotel which would have opened in 2018 looks dead in the water, according to the Sydney Morning Herald report.
