Springfield Mayor joins effort to block ballot on casino law repeal

21 February 2014

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts -- The Mayor of Springfield along with other residents has joined the fight to prevent a question going on the ballot that could see the repeal of gaming laws, The Republication reported.

The ballot is the work of anti-gambling elements who want the laws repealed, the report said.

This follows the approval of Massachusetts expanded gambling bill in 2011, which will see three additional casinos and a slots parlour, according to the Republican.

A decision will be issued by July 9th it is hoped, the report made note.
