Sportwear tycoon leads Les Ambassadeurs bidders22 October 2007LONDON, England -- As reported by the Observer: "Sportswear tycoon Mike Ashley is understood to be the front-runner in the £90m auction of Les Ambassadeurs, one of London's plushest casinos. "Indonesian cigarette billionaire Putera Sampoerna put the casino, affectionately referred to as Les A, up for sale last month. Gaming giant Harrahs, which bought London Clubs International last year, is also still thought to be contention. "Sampoerna bought the exclusive casino for £115m just 18 months ago but the shine has been taken off the trophy purchase by the rigmarole - as well as the level of disclosure required to obtain a new gambling licence..." |
