Sports betting is go in New Jersey

8 September 2014

TRENTON, New Jersey -- In a surprising about turn Gov. Chris Christie has given sports betting the green light in New Jersey, according to New Jersey.com

The change came about as the acting state Attorney General John Hoffman instructed law enforcement not to prosecute casinos and racetracks under the 2012 law, the report explained.

This means that casinos and racetracks can now offer sports betting without fear of prosecution, New Jersey.com reported.

Atlantic City is struggling to swallow the recent news of several casino closures with large numbers of jobs lost.
