Split Rock Resort intervention denied4 October 2007SCRANTON, Pennsylvania -- As reported by the Pocono Record: "The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board denied efforts by Split Rock Resort to intervene in the gambling license applications of two other venues. "The resort, an applicant for slot machine license, formally protested the applications of two separate Philadelphia-area and Pittsburgh-area venues by filing 'petitions to intervene.' "...Split Rock argued that the two venues — the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia and the Palace Inn in Monroeville — are not qualified under state guidelines even to apply for a license. "...Split Rock, just over the Monroe County border in Lake Harmony, has applied for a Category 3 slots license, which allows for 500 slot machines at an 'well-established' existing resort. It is one of four applicants for the Category 3 license, along with the two it is protesting and Fernwood Hotel and Resort in Bushkill..." |
