Southern rock from the 1980s to invade SEVEN Bar

9 September 2013

WEST SILOAM SPRINGS, Okla. – During the third week of September, Cherokee Casino & Hotel West Siloam Springs officials are turning back the clock at SEVEN Bar, when The Kentucky Headhunters play Sept. 20 and The Georgia Satellites rock the casino on Sept. 21.

Local country music favorite Kinsey Sadler will open the Friday show at 7 p.m., and The Kentucky Headhunters will take the stage at 10:30 p.m. On Saturday, Badly Bent Band warms up the crowd at 7 p.m. for The Georgia Satellites 10:30 p.m. show.

The Kentucky Headhunters' Grammy Award-winning 1989 debut, "Pickin' on Nashville," produced four Billboards hot country singles. The first, a cover of Bill Monroe's classic hit "Walk Softly on This Heart of Mine," peaked at No. 25. As a great beginning to the band's second year, "Dumas Walker" climbed to No. 15 on the Billboard charts. The band's "Oh Lonesome Me," a Don Gibson cover song, and "Rock 'n' Roll Angel," from the same album, peaked at No. 8 and No. 23 on the Billboard charts, respectively.

The Kentucky Headhunters earned the Best New Vocal Duo or Group award from the Academy of Country Music in 1989 and Album of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year awards from the Country Music Association in 1990, picking up another CMA Vocal Group of the Year award in 1991.

Following their chart-topping 1989 debut album, The Kentucky Headhunters have released seven studio albums, including the band's most recent "Dixie Lullabies," which was released in Oct. 2011.

Hailing from Atlanta, The Georgia Satellites are known for their haughty cries and classic, three-chord rock 'n' roll. In 1986, the group signed with Elektra Records to record their debut full-length album. The self-titled "Georgia Satellites" features songs like "Battleship Chains," "The Myth of Love" and the Billboard Hot 100 No. 2 track, "Keep Your Hands to Yourself."
