Southern Gaming Summit to address cutting-edge industry topics6 April 2016(PRESS RELEASE) -- Skill-based slots, fantasy sports, marketing to millennials and the never-ending push for new markets are among the topics at the forefront of change in today's gaming industry, and each will be addressed in-depth at the Southern Gaming Summit to be held at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center here May 3-5. "This is both a challenging and an exciting time for our industry," said Larry Gregory, Executive Director, Mississippi Gaming & Hospitality Association, which co-produces the event with BNP Media Gaming Group. "Technology is re-defining the potential of gaming, but it is also driving new competition and changes in consumer behavior. Governments are always looking for new and politically acceptable ways to capture revenue, and gaming is always at or near the top of their list. Attendees at our conference next month will gain a better sense of what changes in the industry landscape mean for their business and how they might benefit from them." The transformational topics to be addressed at Southern Gaming Summit include: -- Skill-Based Slots: Present and Future Opportunities: This session will be led by Daniel Sahl, Ph.D., Associate Director, Center for Gaming Innovation, University of Nevada, Las Vegas. It will highlight changes in game content and the operational and regulatory impacts. -- Fantasy Sports & the Law: More and more states are concluding that regulation, not prohibition, is the logical approach to the booming fantasy sports market. Among the speakers on this panel is Mississippi Senate Judiciary Chairman, Sean Tindell (R-Harrison), who has introduced a bill that would legalize fantasy sports betting. -- Marketing to Millennials: Who, What, Where, Why and How: As the title suggests, this will be a comprehensive treatment of how to entice the ever-elusive millennials generation into casino resorts. Speakers include Roberto Coppola, Director of Market Research and Consumer Insights, YMS Design & Architecture, who has published numerous white papers on the topic, and Marcus Yoder, Vice President, Regulated Markets Business Development, Gamblit Gaming, who will address the gaming product side of the issue. -- New Gaming Opportunities in the South: Assessing the Potential: New gaming is a continuous topic of discussion in Georgia, Florida and Texas, which are on the geographical fringe of the established southern casino industry and represent vital feeder markets. Speakers on this panel include Arthur Mothershed, Vice President of Business Development, Wind Creek Hospitality. All told, Southern Gaming Summit and its companion event Bingo World will feature 25 breakout sessions, in-depth educational workshops and an opening keynote by Anthony Sanfilippo, Chief Executive Officer, Pinnacle Entertainment. In addition to the conference program, Southern Gaming Summit will offer a wide range of networking opportunities, starting on Tuesday, May 3, with the Global Gaming Women luncheon at Island View Casino Resort; the Southern Gaming Summit/Bingo World Golf Tournament, which will be held at Grand Bear Golf Course; and a Welcome Reception at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - Biloxi sponsored by the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM). Golden Nugget - Biloxi will host the Opening Party on Wednesday, May 4. The Opening Night Party is sponsored by GT Advertising, Playersoft Technologies, Rymax and Wilkin Marketing. |
