Southern California Wheel of Fortune slot winner takes home $332,836

18 September 2013

TEMECULA, Calif. -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Kim Wyzykowski says she still cannot believe her good luck after a recent trip to Pechanga Resort & Casino.

The single mother of two boys came away from an overnight rest and relaxation outing to the Temecula casino $332,836.35 richer after hitting the progressive amount on a $1 Wheel of Fortune slot machine. She now plans on adding to the Southern California economy by putting a down payment on a house in her hometown.

"My friend and I were in the gift shop next to the casino and she was buying a few things," said Wyzykowski of Torrance, Calif. "Then I heard the sound from the machine right outside of the gift shop and I told my friend, ‘I gotta go play.’ It was like it was calling me."

She recalls sitting down at the Wheel of Fortune machine for about 15 minutes when all of a sudden, she says she saw the spinning reels line up across the center of the screen. "The screen went black and a note appeared saying 'hand pay, attendant notified,'" said Wyzykowski.

She said she was not sure how much she won, and at first thought she would receive the lowest payout amount of $2,000. "When the Pechanga Resort & Casino attendant came over, saw my machine and told me the full amount of what I won, I nearly fell out of my chair."

Employed as a customer service manager for a printing manufacturer, Kim Wyzykowski says she was happy just to get away for a quick trip, but admits her Saturday afternoon win was more than she ever could have dreamed.

"It still hasn’t sunken in yet," she said. "This came at just the right time. One of my boys is back in school now and there are so many expenses that come along with that."

Her win at Pechanga has allowed her to look for a house of her own to buy for her and her two sons, ages 15 and 24, and said she will soon be making a down payment.
