South Korean gamers go online17 March 2001NetValue, the Internet market research firm, has revealed that South Korea has the highest percentage of online gamers in the Asia-Pacific region, with 65 percent of all Internet users visiting game Web sites in January 2001. The country has shown a 10 percent increase since October 2000. In second place is Hong Kong (39.8 percent) and Taiwan (34.2 percent). Despite high numbers of unique visitors to game sites, the actual usage of games applications is relatively low across the region, according to the survey. However, in Korea, approximately 80 percent of users actually played games on the net, either via a game application or directly through a website. |
