South Korean Gambling Figures Released4 October 2005SOUTH KOREA – As reported by the Korea Times: "A total of 270,190 people have lost 681.5 billion (US$654.1 million) won gambling in a local casino from October 2004 to July this year, an opposition lawmaker claimed Tuesday. "The figure means that each gambler lost an average 2.52 million won. "Rep. Ahn Kyung-yul of the Grand National Party (GNP) said in a report for the National Assembly inspection that 270,190 people visited Kangwon Land, the nation's only casino for Koreans in Kangwon Province, during the 10-month period. "…The casino earned 681.5 billion won from gamblers, an average 2.52 million won per head during the time, the report said. "According to the report, 1,858 visitors have visited the casino more than 100 times with 4,392 visiting more than 50 times and 21,136 more than 11 times…" |
