South Carolina County Supports Neighbors

SOUTH CAROLINA – As reported by the Myrtle Beach Sun News: "Horry County officials offered moral support Tuesday to their counterparts in Georgetown County, still smarting from a judicial decision that could take away the county's right to ban casino boats.

"Horry County Council on Tuesday unanimously endorsed a resolution supporting Georgetown County and its laws prohibiting casino boats. A judge struck down the law earlier this month. Georgetown County has asked the court to reconsider.

"Horry County Council has had its own casino-boat troubles. Two casino boats operate out of Little River. Officials said they fear their ban on any additional boats could be in legal jeopardy because of the Georgetown ruling.

"That is why it is necessary for Horry County to support its neighbor to the south, said County Council Chairwoman Liz Gilland…"
