South Carolina County Appeals Casino Boat Ruling

GEORGETOWN, South Carolina – As reported by the Myrtle Beach Sun News: "Georgetown County Council decided unanimously to appeal a judge's ruling allowing casino boats to operate in local waters, sending the case to the S.C. Supreme Court.

"Georgetown County Attorney John 'Mac' Tolar recommended an appeal of Judge Jackson Gregory's decision, which overturned the county's two-year ban on casino boats.

"Gregory refused the county's motion to reconsider because he says the ban is unconstitutional.

"The council had little discussion before agreeing it should send the case to a higher court. The appeal could take a year and automatically puts a stay on casino boats moving to Georgetown County, Tolar said…"
