South Carolina bingo proposal moves forward

SOUTH CAROLINA -- As reported by the South Carolina Morning News: "Carolina Entertainment Complex is one step closer to making Marion a destination attraction for tourists. Marion County Council's committee number two unanimously voted to move forward with the complex's proposed Indian gaming facility on July 3.

"...An ordinance has already passed first reading and will be up for second reading at the July meeting. The ordinance will need three reading to become law.

"...Marion County's planning commission denied the complex's request in June because they did not have enough information, Interim Administrator Sen. Kent Williams said.

"...According to a letter submitted by County Attorney Tim Pogue, Williams said the state allows Catawba Indians to operate two bingo operations away from their reservation. The tribe already has an operation in York County and are working on another for Marion County, Williams said..."
