South Australian Opposition Concerned About Pokie Numbers

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation: "The South Australian Opposition is calling for the release of a regional impact statement on poker machine numbers, saying the issue shows the Government is paying lip service to country areas.

"Liberal finance spokesman Iain Evans says country hoteliers are deeply concerned, with their businesses often the focal point of community life.

"He says by keeping the regional impact statement secret, the Government is going against its stated aims of helping regional areas.

"…But a State Government spokeswoman says the Government has based its decision on a report that is publicly available…"
