South African Slot Machines Reject New Coin

SOUTH AFRICA – As reported by the (South Africa) Star: "The funky new R5 coin seems to be of little use - at least at the moment.

"…At the slot machines at Montecasino in Fourways, the coin was either too thick for the slot, and if it did manage to go through, it would just slip out.

"Montecasino public relations manager Rochelle van der Ross said their machines won't take the new R5 coins.

"…Other casinos said the coins would not be a problem as they operated on a notes and card system…"
